Foundation 9 Entertainment (Griptonite Games' parent company) scored a top 5 spot on Develop Magazine's prestigious Develop 100 survey of the top 100 development studios.  F9E shares the top five with Nintendo, Infinity Ward, EA Canada, and Ubisoft Montreal. Foundation 9 Entertainment was also the highest ranked independent studios in the Top 100.

The list is compiled based on UK sales at retail, as measured by the GfK Chart-Trak data, which reflects actual sales at roughly 95% of UK outlets, making it some of the most accurate sales data in the world.  The list is considered a definitive ranking of development studios.

This year marks the first time that Foundation 9 Entertainment has been considered in aggregate, although individual studios have appeared on the list in previous years.  "We're all part of the same team," said CEO James North-Hearn, "so it's great to see that reflected in the Develop list, especially considering the amount of technology and production best practices we share."

Three of F9E's six studios (Sumo, Backbone, and Double Helix) were reflected in the top 5 products that contributed to F9E's £36.83M (US$55M) impact at retail in the UK in 2009.
